The Indian hemp industry is growing in popularity every day as some states are legalizing its production. Uttarakhand government is the first one to issue a license for hemp cultivation. So it is legal to grow hemp in Uttarakhand only if the THC or tetrahydrocannabinol content is less than 0.3%.

Other states in India, such as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan, also cultivate hemp. However, the legalization criteria are not yet clear.
